Anchorman - The Legend of Ron Burgundy (Original title: Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy ) is an American comedy film directed by Adam McKay and starring comedian Will Ferrell from 2004. Both also wrote the script. It is one of the so-called frat pack films.

content

The film is set in the late 1970s and is a parody of that time. In particular, the tabloidization of television news, competition between channels, sexism, and the clumsy efforts to achieve equality between men and women are satirized.

The film is about the news presenter Ron Burgundy, who has become a downright legend in his hometown of San Diego and appears daily on television with his simple-minded best friends. Job and life are going well until the beautiful Veronica appears in the television station's editorial office. Nobody wants to take her really seriously, and at first Ron only thinks about getting her into his bed, which he even manages.

But when Ron appears too late in the recording studio once - his dog had been thrown from a bridge - Veronica moderates the news in his place, without his friends being able to prevent it. Ron is seriously offended in his moderation pride and tries to bully her with the help of his colleagues from the team. Veronica strikes back, however, and manipulates the teleprompter , whereby Ron reads "Fuck my ass, San Diego" instead of his trademark "Stay the way you are, San Diego", which of course turns the citizens of the city against him. He is fired, falls into a deep motivation hole and gets drunk on milk.

However, Ron gets the chance to report the birth of a baby panda, as Veronica is pushed into the Kodiak bear enclosure by a competing reporter. When he sees that Veronica's life is in danger, Ron has to decide whether he wants to do the moderation or save Veronica. He opts for the latter and with the help of his colleagues, who are fighting a bitter fight with the bears, he can bring Veronica to safety. The two are reconciled again and from now on announce the news together.

Special

There was so much material left when the film was shot that it was turned into a second film: Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie .

Several stars have guest appearances in the film . Tim Robbins , Vince Vaughn , Ben Stiller and Luke Wilson can be seen among others during a scene depicting a battle between different news teams (such as the Midday News, Evening News, and Spanish News) . Even Jack Black can be seen in a small scene as a rocker. Danny Trejo makes a small appearance as the bartender at Rocky's Bar. Seth Rogen can also be seen as a cameraman.

In the credits , in which the outtakes are shown, a scene from The Boiled Rascal is on the move again , in which Burt Reynolds wears a costume similar to Ron Burgundy and accidentally recites the text of his film partner.

Reviews

"Rough puns that tire more than cheer you up."

“Will Ferrell's steadily growing fan base will definitely be amused by his usual shamelessly fearless portrayal of a self-esteeming, but not unappealing, fool. But that doesn't mean that the comic potential was optimally used despite a number of successful gags. "

"Comedy with a coherent design, but weak gags and pale characters who fail to exploit their potential for a vicious media satire."
