The boiled rascal is back on the move (original title: Smokey and the Bandit II ) is an American action comedy directed by Hal Needham from 1980. The film is the sequel to the 1977 film A boiled rascal from 1977. The alternative title, A boiled rascal is on the move again , uses the indefinite article.
action
The Republican "Big Enos Burdette" wants to run as a candidate for governor in Texas . The internal party election campaign against competitor John Coen literally turns into a mud fight. Burdette is then confronted by the incumbent governor and overhears by chance that he is ordering the transport of a box from Miami to the party congress in Texas - as it later turns out, it contains a cow elephant (the Republican heraldic animal). Burdette decides to steal the box and secretly transport it to Texas himself in order to be celebrated as a savior at the congress and so improve his chances of being elected. For the transport he hires the two truckers “Bandit” and “Snowman” again. Too bad that Bandit was abandoned by his girlfriend "Frog" and became an alcoholic. "Snowman" tries to make him fit for the new task, which ultimately succeeds.
Once again pursued by Sheriff Buford T. Justice and his dumb son, a series of action-packed car chases result, at the end of which the bandit and snowman can deliver the elephant on time in Dallas and escape the sheriff's access again.

Because of this, the film received negative reviews in many cases (especially on Amazon.de). A version with the old or original synchronization version is currently not available.
criticism
The Lexicon of International Films saw a sequel in which "a poor story with spectacular action scenes is turned into undemanding entertainment."
TV Spielfilm called the film a "sloppy sequel" with "a lot of clatter and little brains".
