The boiled rascal III (original title: Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 ) is an American action comedy directed by Dick Lowry from 1983. The film is the second sequel to the 1977 film Ein Auskochtes Schlitzohr .

action

Big Enos and Little Enos bet with Sheriff Buford T. Justice to 250,000 US dollars , that this does not succeed, a fish within a certain time from Florida to Texas to transport. Big and Little Enos try in vain to prevent Buford from winning the bet. When this fails, they call in Cledus Snow, who takes up the chase with his Pontiac Trans Am .

On the way, Snow takes the young Dusty with him, who accompanies him from now on. He succeeds in stealing the fish from Buford, whereupon the latter, as usual unsuccessfully, sets out to pursue them with his son.

background

Burt Reynolds makes a cameo as "Bandit" towards the end of the film . Jackie Gleason was originally supposed to play a dual role as sheriff and "bandit". After test screenings, the film was revised and Jerry Reed added.

The film was shown in US cinemas on August 12, 1983. Unlike its two commercially successful predecessors, the third part of the film series did not manage to recoup its production costs.

Bandit this time driving a 1983 Pontiac Firebird TransAm, very similar to the model used for KITT in Knight Rider .

criticism

"Another infusion of the successful series, but without the narrative context, the gags and the action of the two forerunners with Burt Reynolds," wrote the lexicon of international films .

continuation

In 1994 there was a four-part series of televised films about the character "Bandit," directed by Hal Needham , with the title role played by Brian Bloom .

  • Bandit - A boiled rascal takes off
