Eleven year old Danielle Fortuna lives with her uncle Eddie, a horse breeder. Uncle Eddie wants to find and breed a horse that will make him a lot of money. Danielle believes the horse Tom Thumb she found is suitable in this regard. It belongs to Ms. Slauson, who bought it for $ 7,000 to be won in a bet. Trainer Noel Ferguson denies the horse's abilities, but Danielle continues to believe in Tom Thumbs chances .

Danielle and her friend Gerald train the horse and prevent an attempt at sabotage. Tom Thumb wins a race and Ms. Slauson offers $ 50,000 for the horse. Eddie declines the offer.
