Jerry Belson

Jerome Leon Belson (born July 8, 1938 in El Centro , California , † October 10, 2006 in Los Angeles , California) was an American screenwriter , film producer and film director .

biography

Jerome Leon Belson grew up in his hometown of El Centro, California. After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles , where he made his living as a magician, drummer and comic book writer before selling his first screenplay to the Danny Thomas show at the age of 22 . Since his brother Gordon Belson fought together with Garry Marshall in the Korean War, they met in 1962 and from then on worked together on many projects.

Jerry Belson died on October 10, 2006 of complications from prostate cancer . His younger sister, screenwriter Monica Johnson , died four years later of esophageal cancer . He left behind his second wife, Jo Ann Belson, with whom he had been married since 1976, their three children and two grandchildren. His daughter Kristine Belson is a film producer.
