Jeffrey Duncan Jones (born September 28, 1946 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American actor .

Life

Jones graduated from Lawrence University . Tyrone Guthrie's attention was drawn to him when he was appearing in a university amateur theater performance in 1967 and offered him a position at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis . From 1969 to 1973 Jones studied at the London Academy of Dramatic Art. In 1974 he was hired at the Actors Theater of Louisville.

Jones played his first film role alongside Jon Voight , Seymour Cassel and Robert Duvall in the 1970 film drama The Revolutionary . For his role in Amadeus (1984), he was nominated for a 1985 Golden Globe . In the comedy Beetlejuice (1988) he appeared in a larger role alongside Alec Baldwin , Geena Davis and Winona Ryder .

Jones was arrested in 2003 on charges of possessing child pornography and taking nude photos of a 14-year-old boy. He was arrested again in July 2004 for failing to report his move to the police.

From 2004 to 2006, Jones starred in the television series Deadwood .
