action

The series shows the lives of the residents of the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Canada. Main characters include Julian, Ricky and Bubbles, who are portrayed as close friends. They are like family for each other and can always count on each other. Julian and Ricky go to jail at the end of the pilot, and season one begins with their last day in captivity and their release. An important component in the series are the relationships between the characters, the everyday chaos in the trailer park and the chain of circumstances that ultimately lead to the situation at the end of a season - usually resulting in another jail stay. Julian and Ricky usually try to make a lot of money quickly, which often results in illegal employment. You and / or other characters end up in prison in different constellations at the end of most seasons. In this case, the next season begins with the release of the characters in question from captivity. Friendship and solidarity are an important theme of the series and make the characters appear sympathetic to the viewer despite their criminal activities.

Characters

Bubbles, Ricky and Julian, April 2009.

Julian

In the pilot it is implied that Julian hired the documentary film team, who occasionally appear in front of the camera in the early seasons, to film his life as a lesson for other people. The reason for this decision is a prophecy of a telephone fortune-teller that he will soon die. Julian is known for his illegal or semi-legal schemes to make money quickly. When he has money, he makes sure his friends can have better lives. Above all, Bubbles is close to his heart. Julian's trademarks include dark clothing, tight T-shirts, his muscular build and a glass of Rum Cola (later Whiskey Cola), which he also holds in his hand when driving a car or shooting. When his friends get hysterical, which often happens, he usually stays calm. Julian is not only successful with women, but is also adored again and again by supervisor Jim Lahey, who calls him "My sexy Julian" or "Sexian".

Ricky LaFleur

Ricky and Julian have known each other since childhood. Ricky is referred to as his "partner" in the pilot by Julian. The two kill pets on demand and against payment. This deal, and an associated shootout, is what led to her imprisonment at the end of the pilot. In the series, they no longer do this "business", but earn their living growing and selling marijuana . Ricky has a knack for repairing cars, growing marijuana, and getting out of awkward situations with people in authority. He has an aggression problem, swears a lot and gets himself and others into trouble with his undiplomatic nature. He says what he thinks, but lacks vocabulary. Fans of the series call his new word creations, based on linguistic ignorance, "Rickyisms".

Bubbles

Bubbles is Julian and Ricky's boyfriend. Noticeable is his insecure, voiceless speech and the glasses with the strongly magnifying glasses. Bubbles was abandoned by his parents when he was a child. He has a big heart and often settles a fight between Ricky and Julian. He is a fan of the Canadian rock band Rush . When he is not engaged in illegal activities with his friends, he earns his income by repairing and selling shopping trolleys. Bubbles also likes cats that he feeds on his mother's side. He prefers to live in garden huts furnished at home. His first hut burns down with all of his personal belongings due to Ricky's mistake. Bubbles is the good soul of the boys and is respected and loved throughout the Trailer Park. In his childhood he made an alter ego in the form of a hand puppet, which is called "Conky". In some episodes, Bubbles carries this doll with him, which makes him seem schizophrenic. On a mental level, however, Bubbles and Conky transport suppressed feelings of anger, which oppose his actual, peaceful nature. This anger discharges above all towards Ricky, whose impulsive stupidity repeatedly causes conflicts with the law.

Ray

Ray appears as Ricky's father until season 11 and has his own trailer in the park. In season 11, a paternity test revealed that Ray is not Ricky's father at all. He faked a disability to the public in order to collect early retirement from the state as a wheelchair user . However, when he was involved in one of J-Roc's porn films, his dizziness was discovered because he was watched and reported to the insurance company. This results in a stay in prison. Due to an inattention on the part of Ricky, his trailer burns down and he has to live in the converted sleeping compartment of a truck for a while. He is a heavy drinker and addicted to gambling. During his time as a trucker, he got used to urinating in plastic containers. He distributes the full canisters across the surrounding area.

James "Jim" Lahey

Jim Lahey is a former police officer and has been the trailer park overseer for a long time. It wasn't until late that he found out that he had lost his job with the police in 1977 because of a Halloween prank by Julian, Ricky and Bubbles. Lahey has a severe drinking problem. Together with Randy, he tries to prevent the boys from their criminal activities and to put them behind bars. However, these attempts mostly fail due to lack of evidence or because he is too drunk to act effectively. He and Randy are bisexual and have a homosexual relationship. Randy still calls him “Mr. Lahey ”. Mostly he wears khaki clothes and sunglasses. Nobody takes him seriously. He is subject to ridicule and harassment, especially from Ricky, but also from his ex-wife Barbara. In the later seasons, Lahey will be replaced as overseer as he has retired and continues to indulge in his alcohol addiction.

Randy

Randy is the Trailer Park Supervisor Assistant. Since he only feeds on cheeseburgers, he is very obese. He used to prostitute himself under the name "Smokey" to finance his cheeseburger addiction. Randy is not particularly intelligent, but supports Mr. Lahey in his plan to put the boys down. He is sexually fond of both sexes, which is reflected in later seasons in a love triangle between him, Barbara and Jim (Lahey). He and Lahey have a homosexual relationship. After a breakup, Randy begins an affair with Lucy that results in a pregnancy. Randy never wears a shirt, only shoes and white trousers, which he takes off when he wants to fight in order to spare them. His real last name remains unknown, but he is sometimes jokingly called "Randy Bo-Bandy".

Lucy

Lucy is the friend of Ricky and the mother of their daughter Trinity. Since Ricky is in jail too often to look after her and the child, Lucy and her friend Sarah make a living with a beauty salon. In her youth she had lesbian experiences with Sarah. The on-and-off relationship with Ricky is turbulent. While Ricky is in prison, Lucy becomes pregnant by Randy. She also had sexual experiences with Julian, which both of them can no longer remember properly because they were too drunk. At times the impression arises that Trinity may be Julian's biological daughter. Lucy is always anxious to be a good mother and to be able to offer her daughter a real family. You rarely see her without a cigarette.

Barbara "Barb" Lahey

Barbara Lahey is the owner of the trailer park and the ex-wife of Jim Lahey. She was already in a relationship with Ricky. Their sexual appetite is strong, but their choices in love affairs are problematic. Season 10 turns out to be a lesbian.

Sarah

Sarah is Lucy's best friend and roommate. She helps Lucy raise the rent for her trailer with a joint beauty parlor. Her relationship with Ricky is complicated, most of the time she talks badly about him and tries to convince Lucy of her opinion too. For a while, however, she is even with Ricky instead of Lucy.

Cory and Trevor

Cory and Trevor, two very stupid teenagers from the park, are the boys' stooges. They always perform together and worship the boys like idols. They are sometimes depicted like dogs, for example when they stick their tongues out of a moving car to cool off. Even if they constantly seek their approval, they are only used by the main characters as pawn sacrifices to the police. In the meantime, Sarah takes the two under her wing and tries to protect them from Ricky and Julian. At the beginning of the seventh season it is learned that they have been put in an asylum as a result of the psychological and physical stress the boys have put them through. In season eight, Cory returns, Trevor is missing. Jacob Collins takes on his role as Cory's best friend.

J-Roc

J-Roc's real name is Jamie (his last name is not mentioned). He lives in his mother Linda's trailer. J-Roc is his stage name as a gangster rapper. His beats and songs are stolen, which leads to tangles. His other pursuits along with his gang “The Roc Pile” are also shady. He produces low-budget porn films such as “From Russia with the Lovebone” (in German “Liebesknochen aus Moscow”), sells stolen cars, hi-fi equipment and groceries. Firmly convinced that he is dark-skinned, he uses black slang and style. He doesn't shy away from clichés here. For example, at the end of every sentence he says “You know what I'm sayin '?!”.

Tyrone

Tyrone, or just "T" as he likes to be called, is J-Roc's dark skinned best friend. Together they lead "The Roc Pile". He supports J-Roc in building his rap career and acts as his closest advisor. Together they hatch new business ideas and implement them. He and J-Roc impregnate two girls at the same time and do not know exactly which of them is the father of which child, but that doesn't bother anyone involved.

Jacob

Jacob Collins is the son of Philadelphia "Phil" Collins and the boyfriend of Ricky's daughter Trinity. In the beginning he is often the seller in stores that Julian and Ricky robbed. Otherwise he'll stay afloat with minimum wage jobs. Jacob adores Julian, which goes so far that he imitates his appearance. From season 8 he becomes Cory's partner. With Trinity he has a son.
