Coco - the curious monkey
Coco, the curious monkey (Original: Curious George ) is the protagonist of a series of children's books with the same title, mainly known in the USA , written by Hans Augusto Rey and Margret Rey . The books are about a curious monkey named Coco (English: George ) who is brought to his big city from Africa by "the man with the yellow hat" (in the English original: "the man with the yellow hat" ) and lives with him .
premise
In the books it is mostly about George throwing himself into problems because of his curiosity , whereupon “the man in the yellow hat” has to save him. In hindsight, George usually learns from his mistakes. Since the books are aimed primarily at children, both the problems and morals are easy to understand.
Emergence
The books were written by the couple Margret and Hans Augusto Rey. They started with the first volume of the Curious George series in 1941. Initially, however, the books were only attributed to HA Rey so that the couple's books could be distinguished from the multitude of children's books written by female authors. The illustrations were later attributed to Hans Augusto and the text to his wife, Margret Rey. The two wrote many other children's books, but the books on Curious George were the most successful. In the six decades since the first volume was first published, they have been reissued and translated into 17 languages, including Yiddish, Afrikaans and Braille. The books are currently published in the United States through Boston-based publisher Houghton Mifflin . New editions of the German editions were published by Diogenes.

Motion picture
The animated film was released in Germany under the name " Coco, the curious monkey ". In the USA, however, the film was released under the original name "Curious George" on February 10, 2006. In Germany, the theatrical release was May 25, 2006. The making of the film took an exceptionally long time long before). The script was written by Michael McCullers, Daniel Gerson, Rob Baird, Joe Stillman and Karey Kirkpatrick. Jack Johnson's song "Upside Down" on the soundtrack was a big hit.
Television series
The 96-part television series has been broadcast on the children's channel of ARD and ZDF since 2006 at regular intervals.
