action

Phil Weston is the average soccer player who suffered from his father's upbringing and the successful youth coach Buck Weston.

Later, in middle age, Phil is an entrepreneur, married and the father of Sam. His father Buck is now the owner of a local sports chain and coach of the most successful youth soccer team Gladiators . In this team Sam and his uncle Bucky play in a team, but Sam is seen by his grandfather only as a bench warmer. This leads to Phil's frustration as he received the same position from his father. Buck then lets his grandson switch to the Tigers , the worst team in the district. When the coach leaves the Tigers team , Phil takes over the role of coach. Success lags behind and Phil hires the experienced NFL coach and archenemy of his father Mike Ditka, whereupon the winning streak begins, as Ditka can find two talented boys.

With the winning streak and the enjoyment of coffee, Phil is changing more and more from a meek father to the crazy coach, as he once saw his father and was. During the winning streak, Phil bets Buck that the Tigers will win the final. Phil would sell his shop and work in Buck's stores if he lost. Buck is supposed to set the valuable "Pele Ball", which Phil caught as a little boy but was stolen by his father.

The Tigers reach the final and play against the Gladiators . Buck's team leads at halftime. Phil has a conversation with his son, apologizing for his mistakes and behavior because he realizes how his son is feeling and he remembered his childhood as a bench press. Then the goalkeeper of the Tigers receives glasses and can fend off the balls. The Gladiators team continues to focus on the two talented boys and ignore the other players. The game could be leveled to 3: 3 before Sam scored the winning goal against Bucky's team shortly before the final whistle.

After the win, Buck wants to settle his betting debts, but Phil refuses and suggests reconciling his father. As a result, their companies merge and the two children of the same age, like their fathers, get on better and better.
