Joshua Ryan Hutcherson (born October 12, 1992 in Union , Kentucky ) is an American film actor .

Life

Josh Hutcherson's mother, Michelle, is a former Delta Air Lines employee and his father, Chris Hutcherson, is an analyst for the Environmental Protection Agency . He has a younger brother, Connor, who also works occasionally as an actor. He also has many pets, including three dogs. He moved from Union to California for acting .

Josh Hutcherson is committed to gay rights and received the GLAAD Media Awards in the Vanguard Award category .

In April 2012, he received attention in the press when pictures of him surfaced on the Internet showing him buying a bottle of whiskey. Since buying alcohol in the US is only allowed from the age of 21, he could face up to six months in prison. Previously, in an interview, he had expressed the opinion that the alcohol law in the USA should be changed. Literally he said: "I think the age to go to war is 18 ... So I think you should be able to drink when you are 18."

Private life

Josh Hutcherson has been in a relationship with fellow actress Claudia Traisac since filming Paradise Lost in March 2013 .

Career

Although he appeared in commercials from the age of four, he did not make his film debut until 2002 in Becoming Glen , a 30-minute short film . The role alongside Peter Falk in the 2003 film drama Wilde Tage brought him a 2004 nomination for the Young Artist Award . In the same year he had a small role in the animated film The Polar Express .

Hutcherson first became famous in the 2005 science fiction film Zathura - An Adventure in Space . For this he was nominated for the Saturn Award in 2006 as well as the Young Artist Award . He also stood in front of the camera in the soccer comedy Football Fever - Penalty for Daddy as Bucky at the side of Robert Duvall and Will Ferrell in 2005 .

In 2006 Hutcherson was seen in The Chaoscamper in the cinema and acted in the fantasy film Bridge to Terabithia . In 2007, Firehouse Dog was released in US cinemas and was released on DVD in Germany under the title Rexx, the fire engine .

In 2008 he was seen in Winged Creatures in a kissing scene with Dakota Fanning and alongside Brendan Fraser in a film adaptation of The Journey to the Center of the Earth . He then got a leading role in the Darren Shan film adaptation Midnight Circus - Welcome to the World of Vampires as Steve "Leopard" Leonard . In 2009 he got the lead role in the drama Colors of Love , which, however, was not released until July 2012. In 2010 he played one of the leading roles as Laser in The Kids Are All Right . He then got a lead role as Clapton Davis in the horror comedy Detention - Detention Can Be Fatal . He also acted as a producer on the film. In 2012 he starred alongside Dwayne Johnson and Vanessa Hudgens in Journey to the Mysterious Island , the sequel to the film Journey to the Center of the Earth .

His big break came in 2012 when he played the role of Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games , the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins ' bestseller of the same name . He also took on this role in the three sequels, The Hunger Games - Catching Fire , The Hunger Games - Mockingjay Part 1 and The Hunger Games - Mockingjay Part 2 , which were released from 2013 to 2015.

In November 2012 he starred alongside Chris Hemsworth and Josh Peck as Robert Morris in Dan Bradley's remake of The Red Tide . The film was shot back in 2009 but wasn't released until 2012. In May 2013 he voiced the main character Nod in the animated film Epic - Hidden Kingdom .
