Musetta Vander (* 26. May 1963 in Durban , South Africa born when Musetta van der Merwe ) is a South African actress and model .

Private

Vander was born in South Africa to a ballet teacher and grew up in Durban. She earned a BA in Communication and Psychology. Shortly after completing her degree, she was also licensed to teach ballet. In 1988 she married the film director Jeff Celentano. Like her husband, she teaches at Performer's Academy in Orange County , California .

Acting career

After college , Vander was hired to host the South African version of MTV . She then moved to the United States and began her acting career with appearances in more than 20 music videos by various artists, including Rod Stewart , Tina Turner , Elton John , Chris Isaak and Amy Grant .

Vander has appeared in various film roles including Molly , Wild Wild West , The Cell , and O Brother, Where Art Thou? . In addition, she played in numerous television series, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer , Stargate SG-1 , Star Trek: Voyager , The Sentinel , Frasier and Xena .

In 1998 she took on the role of Lady Elara , one of the leading characters in the real-time strategy game Dune 2000 . She took on the same role in the 2002 sequel Emperor: Battle for Dune .

Vander's involvement in plays includes Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme and Soweto's Burning . In addition to numerous commercial advertising films, Vander was also featured as a model in various magazines, including a series of images in Maxim magazine and a cover in Details magazine.
