Michael Barrett (cinematographer)

Michael Bradley Barrett (born May 28, 1970 in Riverside , California ) is an American cinematographer .

Life

Barrett met cameraman Gabriel Figueroa in 1992 and talked to him about the filming of the 1947 film Mexican Romance ( La Perla ). In the same year, he began studying art history at the University of California, Los Angeles , where he took his first film courses . Barrett then studied film studies at Columbia University until 1996 . During his studies he gained his first experience as a cameraman filming music videos and short films. During his master’s thesis he was supervised by the cameraman Allen Daviau . Through Daviau he got the first opportunities for larger projects.

From 2001, Barrett shot for a few years mainly for the television series CSI: On the trail of the perpetrators . In 2002 Barrett received an ASC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in the Movie of the Week or Pilot (Network) category for his work on the CSI Miami pilot “Cross Jurisdictions”.
