Takers - The Final Job (Original title: Takers ) is an American film from 2010 by John Luessenhop . The film tells the story of the last two attacks by a group of criminals consisting of Gordon Jennings ( Idris Elba ), John Rahway ( Paul Walker ), AJ ( Hayden Christensen ), Jake Attica ( Michael Ealy ) and his brother Jesse Attica ( Chris Brown ) and investigating cops Jack Welles ( Matt Dillon ) and Eddie Hatcher ( Jay Hernández ).

action

Policemen Welles and Hatcher thwart a drug deal, while Gordon Jennings' team raids a bank in a high-rise building and escapes with the help of a hijacked television helicopter. The two police officers are assigned to the case.

In the meantime, Delonte Rivers, known as Ghost, a former member of the criminal gang, is released from prison, which he had to go to because of a failed attack by the gang. He now finds out that his former girlfriend Lily is engaged to Jake. He assures his former colleagues that he has no grudge against them because of the prison or the engagement, and suggests a new attack, which must take place within the next five days. Through contacts with the Russian mafia, he was able to get the exact route of a money transporter that will take place in five days. After some hesitation, the gang agrees and begins working out a plan for the robbery. To do this, they choose a piece of the route that is tunnelled by a former underground line and prepare it with C4 explosives .

In the meantime, Welles and Hatcher find the address of the Russian mafia and storm it. Two of the Russians are shot and a lot of explosives and weapons are seized. Furthermore, Welles finds a connection between the Russian mafia and Ghost. While shadowing him, he discovers a connection between Ghost and Gordon. When the two police officers discover that Gordon was in the building at the time of the bank robbery, the suspicion grows that he was responsible for the robbery. Welles learns from the Internal Affairs Department that his partner Hatcher is corrupt. Welles confronts Hatcher and actually wants to drive him home, but Hatcher persuades him to continue doing their work as long as they can. So the two want to arrest Gordon, but he is meanwhile in the middle of the second attack.

The raid does not go as planned. The money truck, which was supposed to fall into the blasted hole in the street, comes to a stop in front of the blasted hole and a fire fight breaks out between the gangsters and the guards. With the courageous intervention of John it finally succeeds in pushing the money transporter into the hole and breaking it open. The criminals can use the money to escape through the subway tunnel. Welles and Hatcher, who have meanwhile also arrived at the location of the attack, remember a map of escape routes and put Jesse at a subway station. However, he escapes and shoots Hatcher while trying to escape.

The criminals meet at the Roosevelt Hotel to hand over the money for money laundering . Meanwhile, Ghost betrays his colleagues and reveals the whereabouts of the gang to the Russian mafia, to whom he had also offered the plans for the attack. Heavily armed, they storm the gang's hotel room and engage in a heavy firefight in which AJ and all the Russians are shot. Meanwhile, Ghost escapes. The remaining gang will initially go their separate ways. Jake and Jesse go back to their club. There they discover that Lily was killed by Ghost. They are later found in the club by the police and shot.

Meanwhile, Gordon drives to his apartment, where Welles is ambushing him. Gordon notices the ambush in time and flees to the airport, from where the gang wants to go abroad. On the way, John calls him and explains that he suspects that Ghost also wants to get the stolen money, which is on the way to money laundering. In fact, Ghost kills the money launderer and is about to leave with the money when he is caught by Gordon. Welles arrives at the airport at the same time. A firefight ensues in which Welles and Gordon are injured. John, who has meanwhile also arrived at the airport, shoots Ghost, disarms Welles and puts the injured Gordon and the money in his vehicle.

The film ends when the two drive away in the car.
