action

The to fünfmalig life imprisonment condemned and suffering from cancer , John Joseph Gotti experiences in 1999 during a prison visit from his son, the deputy boss of the Gambino family John Angelo Gotti that this is for family reasons by the machinations of the American Italian-Mafia avert and would like to make a confession for a possible reduction in sentence. His father explains to him that he shouldn't believe the government and shouldn't give in. In a flashback , John Joseph Gotti tells the audience about his career as the boss of the bosses.

In 1973, John Joseph committed a murder on behalf of the clan head Carlo Gambino, was made a full member of the Cosa Nostra and a year later was sentenced to four years in prison, of which he had to serve two years. His son John Angelo has attended military school since 1979. At this time John Joseph met Gambino member "Sammy the Bull" Gravano through Frank DeCicco . A year later, John Joseph's son Frank is tragically killed in a traffic accident, which is why the family moves to Florida for some time.

Back in New York, tensions arise within the Gambino family between the faction of John Joseph and that of the new clan chief "Big Paul" Castellano after the drug trafficking of John Joseph's best friend and partner Angelo Ruggiero is exposed by the FBI . During this time John Angelo began to work in the service of the Gambino family.

In 1985 John Joseph was indicted by US Assistant Attorney Diane Giacalone and was acquitted. However, the indictment reveals that Gotti's longtime friend and crew member Wilfred “Willie Boy” Johnson has been an FBI informant for 19 years, which is why he later has him murdered.

After John Joseph's mentor "Neil" Dellacroce dies of cancer in 1985, he has Paul Castellano killed in the so-called "Steakhouse Massacre" with the support of members of the other four Mafia families from New York City . So he is appointed the new head of the Gambino family. In revenge for death Castellanos Frank DeCicco is commissioned by the Genovese -Boss Vincent "Chin" Gigante and Lucchese - Capo called "Gaspipe" Casso murdered. Angelo Ruggiero orders an assassination attempt on Gaspipe Casso without permission, but it fails. As a punishment, he is excluded from the activities of the Cosa Nostra.

John Angelo becomes a full member of the Gambino family and later marries his girlfriend Kim Albanese. A few years later, as deputy boss, he survived a power struggle within the Gambino family, as his father was sentenced to life imprisonment with no prospect of parole following the betrayal by his partner Sammy Gravano in 1992. John Angelo is also later confronted with a large-scale RICO charge and, after a clarifying discussion with his father, decides to make a confession to reduce his sentence so that he can be a father to his children. While in prison, his father died of cancer in 2002 in a prison hospital. John Angelo has gone through four more trials since his first RICO charge until the government decides not to bring any further charges as it has no further connection with organized crime.
