action

2006: Friends Jess, Blair, Alice and Frankie attend a Halloween party at their fraternity. However, their good spirits falter as they are reminded of Jess's upcoming stay abroad in Australia . They vow to stay friends after college and never lose sight of each other.

2016: Jess leads an almost perfect, but also exhausting life as a young politician and is currently running for a seat in the Senate of her state. In the run-up to the wedding with her fiancé Peter, an exciting bachelorette party weekend is planned in Miami . Of course, her friends Blair, a divorced business lady from New York , Frankie, an unemployed hippie and Alice, who still lives with her mother, should not be missing here. In Miami, Alice tries perverted or illegal actions to get her best friend Jess into a party mood, but Jess has grown significantly over time. During dinner in the restaurant, Pippa "Kiwi" arrives, whom Jess met during her stay in Australia . Both directly in the restaurant and later in the club, you notice how the jealous Alice wants to exclude Pippa.

Back at their villa, the friends expect a stripper. Alice accidentally suffers a fatal accident due to Alice's arrogance, whereupon the desperate women now have to make a corpse disappear. Surveillance cameras, intrusive neighbors and disputes among the girls make things much more difficult. When a "real" stripper turns up later, the friends ponder who they actually killed. After two alleged police officers appear on the same night, who turn out to be dangerous robbers looking for their accomplice, the situation seems to have dissolved. However, Jess and her friends are now in great danger.

Peter, who was worried and drove after his fiancée in a panic and under the influence of excessive caffeine, can save the situation for the good of all and the two spontaneously get married here in Miami. Since the young women arrested three criminals, they don't have to fear legal consequences, and especially Jess will benefit from the incident as it will advance her political career.

reception

Age rating

In Germany, the film is FSK 12. The reason for the release states: “For children aged 12 and over, the film is recognizable as a completely exaggerated comedy without reference to their environment. The girlfriends' drug and alcohol consumption is not glorified, and the vulgar dialogues and the sometimes sexualized humor do not have a lasting effect due to the slapstick-like story. "

Reviews

Jenni Zylka from Tagesspiegel is reminded of the rhetorical figure of wine, women and singing : "Wine is coke, woman a male stripper [...], singing the never-ending screaming, arguing, and debating between the five women." Zylka goes on to explain that Lucia Anello and her co-author Paul W. Downs created a test arrangement that analyzes the gender symbolism in conventional comedies, but turns it 180 degrees: “Your work passes the Bechdel test [...] with summa cum laude . “The director creates a world in which it could actually be equal, according to Zylka, in which women are naturally people with humor, sex drive, job, the best sayings and the most gripping hands. Zylka sums up: “Together with the successful genre film Wonder Woman , Girl's Night Out strengthens the hope that necessary feminist truths will slowly arrive in narrow-minded Hollywood . That something will actually change. "

Gross profit

The production costs of around 20 million US dollars are offset by worldwide income from cinema screenings of 44.4 million US dollars. So far, the film has had 398,395 visitors in Germany.
