action

Teacher Joe MacGonaughgill and psychotherapist Lucy Ackerman share an apartment in Manhattan . They talk about a suicide by jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge if they haven't established a committed relationship by the age of 30.

MacGonaughgill is intrigued by the neighborhood resident Jane Lindquist. Although he completely refrains from having sex with another woman, he takes an HIV test every few months and waits for the dream woman. Ackerman occasionally meets with the artist Bwick Elias. MacGonaughgill gets to know Lindquist better, but realizes that she is not the right woman for him after all. In the end, MacGonaughgill and Ackerman become a couple.

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the romantic comedy was "disappointingly trivial"; she is more "presumptuous" than romantic and more "stupid" than funny. You try "desperately" to convey a feeling similar to the comedy Harry and Sally - but their characters, unlike here, would seem like flesh and blood. There is no chemistry between the main actors; the acting is "mediocre".

The lexicon of international films wrote: “A romantic comedy that does not find a more vivid representation of the living conditions of its characters and falls into some conventional behavioral patterns. At the same time, however, some coherent dialogues succeed that indicate the uncertainty of the presented generation. "

backgrounds

The film was shot in New York City . It grossed approximately $ 4.6 million in US cinemas . In some countries like Sweden and Portugal it was released directly on video; in France it was first broadcast on television.
