Matthew "Matt" Richard Lucas (born March 5, 1974 in Stanmore , London ) is a British actor , author , comedian and singer . He was best known for his collaboration with David Walliams on the sketch show Little Britain .

Life

Lucas grew up in Stanmore. He has suffered from hair loss since childhood . He went to Haberdashers 'Aske's Boys' School , as did other later celebrities like Sacha Baron Cohen and David Baddiel .

Lucas studied acting in Bristol .

After three years of relationship Lucas went on 17 December 2006 with the film producer Kevin McGee , a registered partnership one. The registration took place on a small scale, but the costume party afterwards was attended by many famous colleagues. In June 2008, after six years of partnership, the couple separated again. The breakup is believed to be one of the earliest public figures in the UK. McGee committed suicide on October 6, 2009.

Career

Lucas began comedy at the Bernard Chumley theater when he was 18 . A decisive step towards becoming a star was when he appeared on stage with Bob Mortimer in 1992 .

In 2001 he began working with David Walliams on Little Britain, which was initially broadcast as a radio program on BBC Radio 4 . The first season of the television series aired on BBC Three in 2003 . In 2006 the series was discontinued after the third season. In 2005, Lucas played a Venetian prince in the series Casanova ( BBC ).

Lucas wrote lyrics for Sacha Baron Cohen , especially for the character Ali G .

In the 2004 parody Shaun of the Dead , Lucas plays cousin Tom .

Lucas was established in July 2006 by the British newspaper The Independent for his involvement in areas such as entertainment, business, politics and science in ninth place of the most influential gay elected in Britain.

In 2007, Lucas recorded a benefit single with comedian Peter Kay and the Proclaimers for the benefit of Comic Relief . In the re-recording of the Proclaimers hit I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) , he appeared in his series role as Andy Pipkin from Little Britain . The single became a number one hit in the UK and was awarded silver .

In 2010, Lucas starred in a double role in Tim Burton's remake of Alice in Wonderland . He plays the twins Diedeldei and Diedeldum (in the original Tweedledum and Tweedledee).

On June 23, 2010, Lucas was seen on stage at the birthday performance of the musical Les Misérables (25 years) in the O2 Arena in London, where he appeared in the role of host Thénardier. This performance was released on video. In 2012 it was announced that Lucas would play the role of Thénardier in the London musical for three months.

From 2010 to 2011, Lucas appeared with David Walliams in the mockumentary Come Fly with Me . The series shows in a humorous way the everyday life of a fictional airport and its employees and passengers.

From 2015 to 2017, Lucas was on the main cast of the British sci-fi series Doctor Who .
