David Baddiel , also Lewis Ginger (born May 28, 1964 in New York City , USA ) is a British comedian , author and television actor.

Life

Baddiel moved to England as a toddler with his Jewish parents . He grew up in North West London in the London Borough of Brent in the Dollis Hill, Willesden districts. There he attended a private Jewish elementary school before graduating from the private Haberdashers 'Aske's Boys' School in Elstree near Borehamwood , Hertfordshire . He studied English at King's College (Cambridge) and was a member of the Cambridge University Footlights Dramatic Club . He graduated from college with the top grade Double First and went to University College London , which he left without a degree.

Baddiel became a stand-up comedian after college and made his first appearance on television after 1984. He met Rob Newman , with whom he wrote texts for radio and television programs. The comedy The Mary Whitehouse Experience starring comedians Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis was a huge hit on BBC Radio 1 . After the comedy was converted to a television format on BBC Two , the quartet had even greater success. During this time Baddiel was also hosted in the program A bar in The Dark of the channel Channel 4 . After the quartet went their separate ways, Newman and Baddiel appeared in the 1993 comedy series Newman and Baddiel in Pieces , which was so successful that the two had to perform at the sold-out Wembley Arena in London.

With the comedian Frank Skinner Baddiel had in 1996 and 1998 with the football anthem Three Lions written by them as number 1 in the English charts . In 2009 he was one of the authors of an open letter to the Iranian government in which the persecuted of the Baha'i religion were supported during their trial. He supports the organization CALM Campaign Against Living Miserably , which aims to reduce the suicide rate of young men in England. He participated in CALM's public events and was a speaker for their radio broadcasts.

Baddiel lives in North London with his partner Morwenna Banks . The couple have a daughter and a son. He describes himself as a 100 percent atheist and a fundamentalist Jewish atheist . Baddiel is a fan of Chelsea Football Club .
