The League (English for "The League" ) is an American partially improvised sitcom that was first broadcast on October 29, 2009 on FX . The German premiere took place on November 14, 2013 on RTL Nitro .
After the series had switched to sister station FXX for its fifth season, it ended there in December 2015 after seven seasons and a total of 84 episodes.

The series is about a group of friends who participate in a fantasy football league . While each of the friends does everything to win in the league, they also have to deal with various and sometimes bizarre situations in their everyday life.

On July 15, 2009 it was announced that a pilot episode of The League would initially be shot. On August 20, 2009, a first six-episode season was commissioned. The second, third, fourth and fifth seasons followed, each with 13 episodes.
The League has been broadcast on the US cable channel FXX since the beginning of the fifth season . On September 3, 2014, the sixth season of the series started. The seventh and final season of the series aired from September 9 to December 9, 2015.
