Ryan Christian Kwanten (born November 28, 1976 in Sydney , New South Wales ) is an Australian actor .

Life

Ryan Kwanten was born in Sydney , New South Wales , Australia . He began his acting career more or less by accident. One of his brothers went to an agency. When Kwanten left the car out of impatience and also entered the agency, the agents asked him to speak to him. His brother was not taken, but Kwanten himself. He made his first appearances in the television series A Country Practice and Spellbinder - In the Land of the Dragon Emperor . In 1997 he was included in the main cast of the Australian soap opera Home and Away , where he played the lifeguard Vinnie Patterson . Kwanten was on the show for a number of years and thus became a sex symbol. He decided to leave the series in 2002 - shortly after his role got married and became a father. He previously appeared in a supporting role in the series at the age of 15. The producers were so enthusiastic about him that they later offered him that lead role.

Kwanten moved to the United States and was cast there for the television series Summerland Beach . The series ran for two years from 2004 to 2005. He was also in the 2006 film Flicka - Freedom. Friendship. Adventure. seen alongside Maria Bello , Alison Lohman and Tim McGraw . He also played the leading role in the horror film Dead Silence and the role of the impulsive brother of leading actress Anna Paquin in the television series True Blood . During his non-shooting time between the second and third seasons of True Blood , Kwanten flew back to his native Australia to direct the film Red Hill .
