Craig Matthew Thompson (born September 21, 1975 in Traverse City , Michigan ) is an American comic artist . Thompson was best known for his graphic novel blankets , which received the prize as "Comic of the Year" at the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair .

Thompson received considerable attention with the release of his first album Good bye, Chunky Rice in 1999 and received a Harvey Award for "best new talent".
