Andrew McFarlane (born June 6, 1951 in Albany , Western Australia , Australia ) is an Australian actor who has appeared on stage and on television since 1972.

Life

Andrew grew up on a cattle station in Queensland and has lived in Sydney since 1978 .

He successfully completed his acting studies at the famous National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Immediately afterwards he got a role in the police series Devision 4 . He first became known and popular as John Sullivan in the series The Sullivans . After leaving this series after 18 months, he returned again for the television film The John Sullivan Story . This was followed by a leading role in the series Between Sun and Pacific and u. a. Roles in the miniseries 1915 , Cop Shop and Rafferty's Rules . Andrew McFarlane has also appeared in many films. So u. a. in Break of day , Doctors and Nurses , Barracuda and Boulevard of Broken Dreams .

Andrew McFarlane was featured in the series The Flying Doctors in Europe as Dr. Tom Callaghan , which was first broadcast in Germany in 1991. After the miniseries, he played this role for another 16 episodes in the first season and then initially got out to spend a while in England. In 1989 he returned in the fifth season for 37 more episodes, and then finally left the series. He only returned for episode 201 (“The Diary”).

After that, Andrew initially devoted himself entirely to the theater. He played on many major stages in Australia. He had roles in Gulliver's Travels , Talley's Folley , Tales of a Faerie called Angel and most recently in Losing Louis , Woman in mind and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? .

He had guest appearances in well-known Australian television series such as Time Trax - Back to the Future , Water Rats - Die Hafencops , Halifax fp and the youth series Spellbinder - Caught in the Past and Blue Water High . He also appeared in smaller roles in many films, e.g. B. in The Train Accident , Icy Hell and A Woman Strikes Back .

In 1998, he played the role of Tom in the three-part TV film Land of Violence . It's about the story of a white family in New Caledonia and Andrew played in this role from young to old.

Since 2000, Andrew has also been a presenter on Play School , an Australian program for preschoolers (similar to Sesame Street ).
