Johnny Ruffo (born March 8, 1988 in Balcatta , Perth ) is an Australian pop singer , dancer and actor .

Life

Johnny Ruffo was born in Balcatta , Western Australia in March 1988 to Jill and Pasche Ruffo. He has Italian roots through his father. The parents separated when Ruffo was three years old and he moved away with his mother. He spent most of his youth with his mother and at the age of twelve he decided to pursue his dream of a music career, just like his great role model Michael Jackson . He taught himself to play the piano and guitars and started writing his own songs at the age of 14. After graduating from Balcatta Senior High School, he began working as a construction worker in Perth and later took a job as a singer and songwriter for the electro-pop band Supernova .

Career

In 2011 he applied for the third season of the talent show The X Factor . He survived the casting and got into the live shows where he was looked after by his mentor Guy Sebastian . In the end, he finished 3rd behind Reece Mastin and Andrew Wishart. Ruffo got a record deal with Sony Music anyway . The following year he took part in the dance show Dancing with the Stars and won the competition. Also in 2012, Ruffo launched Jay's wristwatches on the market.

He released his first single On Top in June 2012. Although it did not get past number 14 on the Australian charts, the song reached platinum status. A few months later he released his second single Take It Home , which made it to number 30 on the charts and was awarded gold. In 2013 he released his third single Untouchable .

In addition to music, Ruffo also works as an actor. He made his debut in the Australian daily soap Home and Away , in which he can be seen in the supporting role of Chris Harrington since April 1, 2013 .
