Stirling is part of the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 105 km² and has about 196,000 inhabitants, making it the most populous LGA in the state.

Stirling is located north of the Swan River and extends to the coast in the west. It is located about five to 20 kilometers north of Perth city ​​center . The seat of the City Council is in the Stirling district, where around 10,000 people live (2016).
