The white peak is with a height of 2962  m above sea level. A. the highest mountain in the Villgraten Mountains . It is located south of St. Jakob in Defereggen and east of the Austrian-Italian border.

The immediate neighboring summit west of the Weißesspitze is the somewhat lower Rote Spitze ( 2956  m ). The naming of both peaks is not clear. The view of the Federal Office for Metrology and Surveying is given here . According to the residents of the Defereggental , the mountain names are reversed, however, the red tip would then be the eastern and higher. (For naming problems and confusion between Weißer and Roter Spitze, see also the section Highest Summit in Villgraten Mountains .)

The Weißesspitze ( 2962  m , eastern summit of the two mentioned) can only be climbed on the marked path from the rear Villgratental ( climbing difficulty II- ), on a completely separate path from the ascent to the Rote Spitze .
