Gregor Jordan (* 1966 in Sale , Victoria ) is an Australian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Gregor Jordan made his debut as a director and screenwriter with the short film Swinger from 1995. For this film, Jordan was awarded the Jury Prize in the category Best Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival . He was also nominated for the Palme d' Or. Also in 1995 was the film Stitched , in which the actor John Polson took a role.

In the following years he worked for television and staged individual episodes for various television series. In 1999, Jordan's first full-length film was made with the action film Two Hands . The film won numerous film awards , especially in Australia . The main role was played by Heath Ledger . Two years later, Jordan directed the satire Army Go Home! , in which he was also involved as a screenwriter and for which he received the Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Screenplay in 2004.

In 2003 he shot Lawless - The Story of Ned Kelly, a biopic about the Australian mugger Ned Kelly . This film marked the second collaboration with Heath Ledger, who again took on the lead role here. The following year he directed These Days: Powderfinger Live in Concert, a concert film with and about the Australian music group Powderfinger .

Gregor Jordan is in a relationship with actress Simone Kessell , and their first child was born in 2005. In 2013 the second son Beau was born.
