biography
Paul O'Brien was born in England in 1966 and raised an Irish Catholic. He spent the first 20 years of his musical career in pubs, festivals and private concerts and brought his traditional Celtic music to England, the USA and the Middle East.
In 2004, burned out creatively, he turned away from music, left the United Kingdom with his family and emigrated to northwestern Canada.
In Victoria , British Columbia , he initially taught history as a teacher again, which he gave up after a long artistic break in order to devote himself completely to his music career. O'Brien wrote his own songs again. In addition to his regular appearances in and around his homeland Vancouver Island, O'Brien started his international career.
In 2005 the album Sacred Lines was released and in 2008 the album Plastic was released .
The latter was listed in the top ten of Penguin Eggs Folk Magazine , BBC Radio (Folk Roots) and CBC Radio .
After touring England, Scotland and Ireland in early 2009 , he was signed to a German label, Stockfisch Records . He traveled to Germany to record another album with Günter Pauler as producer. For this Uli Kringler could be won as a guitarist. Walk Back Home was published in autumn 2009 and presented on a very successful tour of Germany.
His Spring Tour 2016 Where Do You Find Your Wonder led Paul O'Brien throughout Germany and Switzerland.
