Acoustic guitar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Akustik Guitar is a German-language specialist magazine for topics related to the acoustic guitar .

history

The magazine was founded in 1994 by Heinz Rebellius as publisher on behalf of the music dealer Musik Produktiv . The first issue appeared in December 1994, until the changeover to a bi-monthly publication cycle from 1997 onwards there was one issue per quarter. The impetus for this project came from Eric Clapton's Unplugged concerts, which could be received on television worldwide via MTV . The re-triggered boom of the instrument had sealed the end of the 1980s, which were devastating for the acoustic guitar. In 1996 the magazine was taken over by fingerstyle guitarist and composer Peter Finger and his publisher and record label Acoustic Music Records as publisher.

Editing and publishing

The content-related contributions come from freelancers from Germany who are mostly active musicians themselves. In addition to Peter Finger, the permanent staff and authors of workshops include Ulli Bögershausen , Peter Autschbach , Michael Lohr, Ahmed El-Salamouny , Ralf Bauer, Franz Holtmann, Jens Hausmann , Wieland Ulrichs, Hans Westermeier, Andreas Schifferdecker, Johannes Tonio Kreusch and many others other. This content basis is supplemented by contributions by prominent authors and workshops by well-known musicians. Until 2005 the editorial responsibility lay with the guitarist Gregor Hilden. The editor-in-chief was then taken over by the journalist Stefan Woldach and the guitarist Andreas Schulz.

Content

The magazine is published every two months and features new instruments, guitar amplifiers and news in the aftermarket for acoustic guitarists. There is a discussion of books, sound and image carriers in the field of acoustic guitar. Furthermore, artist portraits and interviews with the guitarists and songwriters Tommy Emmanuel , Al Di Meola , Jackson Browne , Suzanne Vega , Paco de Lucía , Paul Simon were published , which are mostly accompanied by a workshop that offers the music of the presented artist to replay, edited in sheet music and guitar tablature with a commentary short article. There are also instrument and accessory tests. The workshop part of the booklet is devoted to different styles of acoustic guitar music such as pop music , rock music , jazz , blues , folk , Celtic , world music , bluegrass , latin and fingerstyle . Tour dates as well as dates on festivals and guitar workshops can also be found. Well-known concerts, festivals and tours cooperate with the acoustic guitar (see section: "Acoustic guitar presented").

CD, multimedia

The publisher offers a CD parallel to the print edition of the acoustic guitar . On this CD you will find up to ten original songs as “bonus tracks” by the artists featured in the review series and the stories. Workshops and instrument tests can also be heard on the CD.
