Heinz Rebellius

Heinz "Henry" Rebellius (born August 26, 1954 in Kyllburg ) is a German guitarist , journalist , editor and author .

Life

Rebellius grew up in his hometown and studied landscape planning in Berlin from 1974 . After completing his degree (Dipl.-Ing.) He decided to pursue a career as a professional musician and moved to Cloppenburg in 1979 .

Musical work

In the 1980s, Rebellius played in music projects of various genres. In 1984 he became a member of the new wave band Surplus Stock , which was founded in 1979 by Robert "Bob" Giddens , the former manager of DAF . With Giddens he founded Cliff Barnes and the Fear of Winning in 1986 , Illegal Artists in 1993 and Artland Country Club in 2009 . In 2011 he founded Rebellius The Band , in 2012 and 2014 he co-produced the first three albums by the musician Luca.

Author activity

Rebellius has been a journalist since 1985. In 1986 he was the founder and editor-in-chief of the musician magazine Solo and in 1994 he was also the founder and publisher of the specialist magazine Akustik Guitar . In 1987 he moved to Osnabrück and in 1992 to Bissendorf near Osnabrück. Until 1998 he also headed the publishing and marketing department of Musik Produktiv . Since then he has been working as a freelance musician, editor and journalist, currently at MM-Musik-Media-Verlag in Cologne , and since 2000 especially as editor of the Guitar & Bass magazine .

In 2001, together with Paul Day and André Waldenmaier , he wrote the book E-Guitars: Everything about construction and history at Carstensen Verlag in Munich . Here he also acted as editor. In 2004 he gave together with Todor "Toscho" Todorovic On the road again. 30 years of the Blues Company. On the way out in the name of the blues (Books on Demand, Norderstedt).

Instrument construction and sales

From 1997 to 2000 Rebellius founded and ran the guitar shop Guitardome in Bissendorf, from which the internet portal of the same name developed. The latter was taken over by Tina von Garrel in 2010. In 2010 Rebellius founded the online shop Guitar Wash , which mainly sells guitars and effects pedals from his own brands Bleeding Cowboys and Twangtone . In the so-called Twangtone Pedal and Twangtone Guitar series, effects pedals and guitars appear, which are created according to ideas and specifications from Rebellius in cooperation with various electronics companies and guitar makers . Among other things, he had the Berlin guitar maker Frank Deimel ( Deimel Guitarworks ) build a wooden guitar from the Bremen Bridge in Osnabrück for VfL Osnabrück .

Events

From 2009 to 2016 Rebellius organized a monthly concert series, which he moderated himself. The first 22 editions took place in what was then Café Mojo in the Katharinenviertel of Osnabrück under the name Mojo Song Night . From 2011 to the end of 2015, the series ran as Grolsch Song Night in Café Spitzboden in the Osnabrück warehouse . Starting in 2016, Rebellius left this series of events, which will be continued under the direction of Lagerhalle eV.

Others

In 2001/2002 he completed training in sound massage according to Peter Hess and in 2005 he completed his training as a certified alternative practitioner for psychotherapy . Since then he has also worked as a sound therapist . He is married and has three children.
