Unplugged is the fifth solo live album by British rock - and blues - musician Eric Clapton . It was recorded on January 16, 1992 in Bray near Windsor and released on August 18, 1992 under Reprise and Duck Records . It is Clapton's most successful album, selling more than 26 million copies and receiving three awards at the 1993 Grammy Awards .

background

Clapton wrote in his autobiography that he really didn't want to release Unplugged : “I just didn't really warm up with it, and as much as I had enjoyed playing all of these songs myself, I didn't think it was listenable to . But then the album came out and became the biggest bestseller of my career, which shows again how much I know about marketing. "

The Unplugged concert is part of the MTV Unplugged series. The songs were acoustically reinterpreted by Clapton for the concert, sometimes almost beyond recognition ( Layla , for example ), for which he received both criticism and recognition. The video recording of the concert was broadcast on MTV and 3sat ( Pop Around the Clock ) and is sold on DVD . The tracks Circus Left Town and My Father's Eyes were first released as a studio version on the Pilgrim album . Clapton used his Martin 000-42 guitars and the 1977 Juan Alvarez for the recordings .

more publishments

A music cassette with the Spanish title Desconectado was released in Argentina .

On October 15, 2013, the album was re-released , Unplugged Deluxe . The album consists of the original 14 tracks that have been reworked , plus six previously unreleased tracks. The DVD contains both an improved version of the original concert and more than 60 minutes of unpublished rehearsal recordings. It reached number 1 in the US.
