Story is a compilation album by British rock musician Eric Clapton . It was released in some markets such as Germany and France in 1990, and in others such as Italy in 1991 under the Polydor Records label .
The album includes recordings from 1967 to 1980 from the albums Disraeli Gears , Wheels of Fire , Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs , Eric Clapton , 461 Ocean Boulevard , EC Was Here , Slowhand and Just One Night .

Break-out critic Markus Baro found the selection of songs "optimally successful", all creative periods are represented, pure hits ( Wonderful Tonight , Lay Down Sally ) as well as bluesy, playful passages ( Further on up the Road , Have You Ever Loved a Woman , Layla ).
Chart success
The compilation reached number 17 on the German album charts and stayed in the charts for a total of 16 weeks. In Austria, Story was ranked 24th in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 and stayed there for eight weeks. The album sold more than 150,000 times worldwide.
