The Cream of Eric Clapton is a compilative film made from recordings of various live concerts by British rock musician Eric Clapton . The film was released on VHS on January 23, 1990 and on DVD on April 29, 1998 .

Trivia

The title White Room was cut from recordings of the Farewell concert and Cream's honor in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . Three different shots of Layla were cut into one. Clapton sings Tearing Us Apart as a duet with Tina Turner. Wonderful Tonight performs Clapton with Mark Knopfler.

There is a risk of confusion with the CD release of the same name The Cream of Eric Clapton from 1987. The production team consisted of Chris Hunt, Judy Chesterman and Angela Gray.

Reception and sales

Allmusic critic Richard Gilliam describes the compilation as a "solid collection that provides an excellent overview of one of the best rock musicians". He also praised the historical component of the work. The film sold more than 100,000 copies in the United States and was awarded a platinum record by the Recording Industry Association of America .
