background
Clapton often referred to Cale as someone who had a great influence on his music and as one of the most important exponents of rock music . To thank and honor Cale, Clapton asked some friends to perform on the album.
“I would like people to tap into what JJ Cale did - that's the point. I'm just the messenger; I've always felt that that's my job. I try to interpret things so that the public at large, or at least the people who listen to what I do, will become intrigued about where I got it from. "
“I want to get people to hear what JJ Cale created. I am only the messenger; I've always felt that this is my job. I try to interpret things in such a way that a larger audience, or at least the people who hear my music, ask themselves where my things come from. "
