No Reason to Cry is Eric Clapton's fourth studio album . It was released in August 1976 under the label RSO Records . In 1990 the album was released on CD.
background
The album was recorded in March 1976 at the Shangri-la Studios. The album includes a duet with Bob Dylan , which Dylan composed from the CD booklet of his album The Bootleg Series Volumes 1–3 (Rare & Unreleased) 1961–1991 . Dylan attended the recording sessions and lived in a tent at the end of Clapton's backyard in Hurtwood and attended the recording sessions. Another duet is the song Hungry on which Marcy Levy is involved. Yvonne Elliman also sang on some songs. All five members of The Band played a large part in the album.

Reception and chart placements
Allmusic critic William Ruhlmann gave the album three and a half stars out of five and described it as a "good buy for Bob Dylan fans, but not necessarily for those of Eric Clapton". The album was ranked 15th on the Billboard 200 and number eight on the UK album charts. The single Hello Old Friend was ranked 24th on the Billboard Hot 100 and the song Carnival was ranked 22nd in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 .
