The 2008 Eric Clapton World Tour [ ˈɛrɪk klæptɒn wɜːld tʊə ] was a concert tour by British rock musician Eric Clapton . The tour began on May 3, 2008 in Tampa Bay, Florida and ended on August 23, 2008 in Monte Carlo, Monaco . In the course of the tour, Clapton traveled moderately intensively through North America and Central and Northern Europe. The tour marked the Briton's first concerts in Iceland and Monte Carlo and led Clapton to appearances at several music festivals ( see notes ).

During the tour, Clapton wore a mix of hit songs from the Complete Clapton album such as Wonderful Tonight , Layla and Cocaine , but also a wide range of blues titles such as Hoochie Coochie Man , Driftin 'Blues , Before You Accuse Me and Key to the Highway ahead. The British artist played a total of 27 concerts, eleven of which took place in North America and 16 in Europe in front of more than 315,000 visitors. Clapton took about 37 million US dollars a.

Tour events

Clapton began touring in Florida on May 3, 2008 and played a second concert in North America on May 5. On May 22nd, the Briton returned to the United States to continue his tour. On May 27th and 28th, Clapton played two sold-out concerts in Canada and completed the North American portion of his world tour with five more concerts by June 5th. After a 15-day break, the British star traveled to Europe to complete his tour. In the United States and Canada, every concert - as far as is known - was sold out. In North America alone, Clapton played in front of more than 145,000 viewers and grossed more than $ 16 million.

On June 20th, Clapton's European portion of the tour began with an appearance at the Live at the Marquee Festival in Ireland . The next day, Clapton also played in Ireland and performed in front of over 19,000 people at Malahide Castle. A concert in Nottingham in front of 10,000 people followed until Clapton performed in front of over 60,000 people on June 28 as part of the Hard Rock Calling Festival. Two days later, Clapton ended his UK tour with a sold out concert in Leeds. In early August, Clapton traveled through Northern Europe and performed for the first time in Iceland. On August 10th, Clapton played as part of the Skanderborg Festival in Denmark . This was followed by four concerts in Germany and appearances in Poland and Switzerland until the tour with the Sporting Summer Festival ended on August 23 in Monaco.
