Tulsa Time is a country song released by Don Williams in 1978 .

Original version

The first rendition of the song, written by Danny Flowers, was released in October 1978 by Don Williams on his album Expressions . In the United States, the single reached number one on the country charts as well as number six on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. In Canada , the piece positioned itself at number one on the RPM Country Tracks charts.

Adaptation and cover versions

Eric Clapton first covered the song for his studio album Backless , which was released in November 1978. A live rendition of Clapton was recorded in December 1979 and released on the album Just One Night in April 1980 . On the DVD for the Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007 another live version of the piece appeared together with Sheryl Crow , Vince Gill and Albert Lee .

Reba McEntire released her version of the piece in 1999 on the compilation album Comfort from a Country Quilt . In 2010 Jason Boland & the Stragglers recorded the song for their live album High in the Rockies . Volker Lechtenbrink published a German version in 1980 under the title Life as I like it .
