Clapton is a compilation album by British rock musician Eric Clapton from 1972. The album includes tracks from Clapton's early solo career. It is the first Clapton compilation under Polydor .
Although the album was also sold in other countries, the compilation should give Clapton a major breakthrough mainly in the United States. To contribute, Polydor Records licensed Clapton's music to Atco and Atlantic Records . The album was in production from 1972 to 1976.

reception
Allmusic website critic William Ruhlmann praised the fact that the compilation includes many titles that Clapton performs as a solo artist. He criticized, however, that songs like Blues Power and Layla have now been released for the third time. Overall, Ruhlmann awarded three of the five possible rating units for the album. The compilation was ranked 87th on the Billboard 200 in 1972.
