Edge of Darkness is a soundtrack written by Eric Clapton and Michael Kamen for the British television series Edge of Darkness . The soundtrack received the Ivor Novello Award for songwriting and composition and the BAFTA Award 1986 in the Best Music category . The theme song reached number 65 on the UK charts in 1986.

background

It was the first time that Clapton had composed a soundtrack for film or television. Shortly after visiting Terry Gilliam's film Brazil with Kamen , Clapton received a request from the BBC asking him to compose the music for Edge of Darkness . Clapton asked Kamen for assistance.

The Age rated the soundtrack as outstanding (... outstanding) and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution described the work as particularly noteworthy (... particularly noteworthy).

Publications

The soundtrack was originally released on a 45 rpm 12 " LP and compact cassette . The soundtrack was released on CD in February 1989. A live version was also released together with the 24 Nights version of Wonderful Tonight individually and on 24 Nights in 1991.
