Behind the Sun is the ninth studio album by English rock musician Eric Clapton . It was released in March 1985 under the Duck and Warner Bros. Records labels . Phil Collins was a guest musician.

Background and recording

In his biography, Clapton explains how the album title came about: “Tonight in Phil's house I wrote and recorded 'Behind the Sun'. Hard but honest. That song, with me on guitar and vocals and Phil on synthesizer , expressed all my sadness about our breakup [from Pattie Boyd ]. The title comes from a line from Louisiana Blues , one of my favorite Muddy Waters songs [...]. "

Since money and cigarettes had only sold sluggishly, the record company hit singles demanded by Clapton and sent him three pieces of the songwriter Jerry Lynn Williams Forever Man , Something's Happening and See What Love Can Do .
