The Eric Clapton World Tour 2019 was a concert tour by British rock musician Eric Clapton . The tour began on April 13, 2019, included seventeen concerts in Japan , Germany , Austria , the United States and the United Kingdom, and ended on September 21, 2019.
backgrounds
In September 2018, Clapton attended a concert by the German cellist Jan Vogler , who is the artistic director of the Dresden Music Festival . He invited Clapton to end the next festival in June 2019 with a concert. Due to the high demand for tickets, the concert was moved from the originally planned venue, the renovated Kulturpalast, to the larger Dresden Exhibition Center. The concert was sold out after a short time.
In September 2018, Clapton announced that it would be organizing further concerts in Germany and Austria, including in the Berlin Mercedes-Benz Arena, the SAP Arena Mannheim and the Wiener Stadthalle. In October 2018, three appearances were confirmed at the Royal Albert Hall in London. On January 18, 2019, it was confirmed that Clapton will give five concerts at Nippon Budōkan in Tokyo. On March 28, 2019, it was announced that Clapton would host a fifth Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas, Texas. A month later, three concerts in the USA were announced.
