Live in Hyde Park is a concert film by British rock musician Eric Clapton . The concert was recorded on June 26, 1996 in Hyde Park , London and was released on film August 4, 1997 on VHS . The concert has been available on DVD since November 13, 2001 .
Background and dates
The film was presented by Mastercard Masters Of Music Concert for The Prince's Trust . The organizers did not charge an entrance fee for the concert. The Billboard magazine expects 150,000 visitors, an attendance of 200,000 take during more counts to 220,000 spectators.
reception
Billboards music journalist Catherine Applefeld Olson thinks that the recording is a “memorial piece”. The “collector's item” was also a “mega performance [at a] mega concert”. Critic Bruce Eder of the music website Allmusic thinks that the film shows very well how good Clapton's guitar playing and singing is. Eder also praises the interesting and well-chosen set list of the concert. On the technical side, the critic notes that the choice of stereo channels is just as good as the sharp picture of the film. Finally, he awarded 3.5 out of 5 possible evaluation units for the film. Critics of the Guitar Nine Records websitedescribe the concert and the recording as "triumphant" and gave the DVD the maximum number of 5 points.
