Timepieces: The Best of Eric Clapton is a greatest hits album by British rock musician Eric Clapton . It was released in 1982 under the Polydor and RSO labels .
background
In 1982, Clapton RSO and left Polydor Records to his own label Duck Records under distribution of Warner Bros. to start. After Clapton left the two record companies, he released two timepieces albums. Most of the songs have already been released. Most of the songs come from the albums 461 Ocean Boulevard (1974) and Slowhand (1977).

Reception and chart successes
Critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine of the music website Allmusic described the compilation as a "good single-disc collection of Eric Clapton's solo hits [...]" and awarded a total of four of the five possible rating units for the album. Country legend Steve Wariner describes the pieces on the album as his best work and praised the versatility of the compilation. In 1982 the album reached number 101 on the Billboard 200 and ranked 20th on the UK album charts that same year. Six years later, the compilation rose to number 65 on the Dutch album charts. In 1993 the album was number 22 on the New Zealand album charts. The Billboard Magazine listed the album with more than 13 million copies sold, ranked 166 of the 300 best-selling albums. The sales figures listed here total more than eight million.
