Delaney & Bonnie

Bonnie Bramlett (2008)

Delaney & Bonnie Bramlett were an American rock musician couple. From their marriage in 1967 until their divorce in 1972 they were on the road with changing accompanists as Delaney & Bonnie (and Friends) .

Band history

Bonnie Lynn O'Farrell (born November 8, 1944) met her future husband Delaney Bramlett (born July 1, 1939) in 1967 during a concert by his band, the Shindogs. They married within a week and soon signed a recording deal with Stax Records . Under the name Delaney & Bonnie , they were among the first white artists among the otherwise predominantly Afro-American rhythm and blues musicians.

In 1969 they toured the USA with Blind Faith , after which Eric Clapton played with Delaney & Bonnie in Europe . Since other, frequently changing, musicians such as Duane Allman , George Harrison and Dave Mason often accompanied the band, it was soon called Delaney & Bonnie and Friends . Only two songs by the band made it into the US charts : Never-Ending Song of Love and Only You Know and I Know , a cover of the title of the same name by Dave Mason.

After their separation in 1972 Bonnie Bramlett concentrated more on her solo career and called herself Bonnie Sheridan at times . Under this name she was also seen in the film The Doors .

Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett have a daughter, Bekka (born April 19, 1968), who u. a. replaced Stevie Nicks at Fleetwood Mac from 1993 to 1995 .

Delaney Bramlett died on December 27, 2008 at the age of 69 in Los Angeles as a result of biliary surgery.
