The 50th Anniversary World Tour [ ˈfɪftɪəθ ˌænɪˈvɜːsəri wɜːld tʊə ] ( English for: "50-year anniversary world tour") was a four-month world tour by British rock musician Eric Clapton . The concert tour began on March 14, 2013 in Phoenix and ended on June 19 of the same year in Prague .

The tour took place on the occasion of Clapton's 50th anniversary as a professional musician and presented the studio album Old Sock at the same time . During the tour, Clapton visited the United States in North America and toured eight countries in Europe. As part of the music tour, the Briton visited Lithuania and Latvia for the first time . At the end of the US tour on April 12th and 13th, Clapton organized the Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013 .

In total, Clapton played in front of over 360,000 viewers and took around 33 million US dollars .

Tour events

Clapton began his tour in mid-March with 17 concerts in the United States. The Briton did not visit other countries on the North American continent. During the US leg of the trip, Clapton played in arenas with a capacity of 5,000 to 20,000. This section lasted about a month and ended with the fourth Crossroads Guitar Festival on April 12th and 13th, 2013.

From the beginning of May to mid-June, the Briton traveled extensively across the continent of Europe and held concerts in the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Latvia, Ireland , Poland , the Czech Republic and Germany . Due to severe back pain, the Briton canceled two of his concerts in Stuttgart and Vienna.

Clapton performed eight times (out of nine planned concerts) in Germany alone. He performed in front of more than 360,000 fans.

occupation

The following musicians (permanent or guest) and supporting groups appeared during the tour.

Setlist

During the tour, the British guitarist wore a mix of old blues tracks such as Crossroads , Goin 'Down Slow , Stones in My Passway , Driftin' Blues and Love in Vain , but also old hit songs such as My Father's Eyes , Tears in Heaven , Wonderful Tonight , Lay Down Sally , Cocaine and Layla . From the early 2013 released studio album Old Sock , Clapton only played the song Gotta Get Over . On his birthday on March 30th, the Briton let his band and audience sing the song Happy Birthday to You before his encore .
