The Doyle & Derek World Tour [ ˈdɔɪl ænd ˈdɛrɪk wɜːld tʊə ] ( English for: "Doyle and Derek World Tour") was a concert tour by British rock musician Eric Clapton . The tour began on May 5, 2006 in Le Cannet, France and ended on April 6, 2007 in Columbus, United States . On his journey through the continents of Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania contributed Clapton both Blues -Titel as Crossroads , Everybody Oughta Make a Change and Milkcow's Calf Blues as well as classics like Layla , Wonderful Tonight and Cocaine and new songs from the album Back Home front .

The tour was titled by Clapton after the two rhythm guitarists Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks , who accompanied Clapton on the world tour. The tour was announced on February 24, 2006 in the US American Billboard magazine. The tour marked Clapton's first appearances in Australia and New Zealand since the Journeyman World Tour in 1990. The Briton now also visited Asia and Eastern Europe more intensively.

During the tour, Clapton performed in front of more than 1.1 million viewers and grossed more than 114 million US dollars .

Tour events

Clapton began the tour with a rehearsal concert in Le Cannet, France on May 5, 2006. This was followed by 12 concerts in Great Britain , seven of which were played in a row at London's Royal Albert Hall. In late May, Clapton traveled through France, Belgium and the Netherlands and performed four times in Germany in early June . In mid-June, Clapton traveled back to the UK and performed two concerts at the Hampton Court Music Festival in Surrey. At the beginning of July, Clapton continued his tour with three concerts in Italy and one concert in Switzerland . There Clapton played in addition to his solo shows at the Umbria Jazz and Moon and Stars festivals.

In mid-July Clapton traveled back to Germany, where he made two appearances in the country. After a long time Clapton performed again in Austria and then toured Eastern Europe again after an absence of more than 15 years. There the Brit appeared in Hungary and the Czech Republic . After three more concerts in Germany in July 2006, Clapton traveled to Scandinavia and made individual appearances in Denmark , Norway , Sweden and Finland . The exceptional British musician performed in front of over 31,000 people on the forecourt of Augustenborg Castle in Denmark. The concert in Moscow's Red Square was canceled due to disputes with the Russian government. In Europe alone, Clapton performed to more than 228,086 people and grossed more than $ 24,398,870.

From mid-September to the end of October Clapton visited the continent of North America intensively and, in addition to two concerts in Canada, played a total of 21 concerts in the United States. The concert on September 23 in Auburn Hills had to be postponed due to an illness Clapton. From November 2006 to January 2007 the Brit performed in Asia and began the tour with 18 concerts in Japan . Highlights of the performances were the sold-out concerts in the Sapporo Dome with around 52,000 spectators and in the Super Arena with almost 35,000 visitors. Clapton later visited Singapore, Thailand , South Korea and China . In North America, the Briton took in more than $ 24,265,130 and performed in front of 291,344 spectators, while in Asia Clapton played in front of more than 111,875 visitors and grossed over $ 14,391,332.

From the end of January to mid-February 2007, the Brit appeared again after 17 years in Australia and New Zealand. All concerts there were completely sold out except for the concerts in the entertainment center of Brisbane, where Clapton could not quite fill the concert hall. Four of the concerts in Australia sold out within four minutes , according to Billboard magazine and MPS Australia . In Oceania, the Briton earned exactly $ 17,064,250 and performed in front of 147,960 people. From February to April, Clapton had 24 concerts in North America that were almost sold out. From March 18, 2007, Derek Trucks no longer appeared with Clapton because he had to perform with the Allman Brothers Band . With revenues of $ 34,354,829 in 2007, the tour was the 18th most successful of its kind in North America.
