Runaway Train is a pop song written by Elton John , Bernie Taupin and Olle Romo. The piece was released on John's album The One in 1992 and sung by him and Eric Clapton .

Clapton and John sing the piece as a duet . Clapton sings most of the song and plays some guitar solos . The song is in the key of G minor, which is why Clapton uses a capo during the recording . However, when the performers performed the piece during Wembley Stadium concerts on the 1992 Eric Clapton World Tour , it was not used. A music video featuring footage of the Clapton tour has also been released.

Charts

The song placed 41st in the German charts and stayed there for eleven weeks. In Austria the single was at number 22 and in Switzerland at number 15. In the United Kingdom, the song reached number 31. In the USA, the single was at number 10 on the mainstream rock charts.
