No Alibis is a rock song written by Jerry Lynn Williams and released by Eric Clapton on his album Journeyman in 1989 .
Music and content
The play is about a man who asks his partner not to lie to him any further. In his autobiography, Clapton describes how he wrote the song together with Williams, who appears as a songwriter. Clapton was betrayed by his then partner Lory Del Santo , according to Clapton in his biography. He also played the song during his Journeyman World Tour . The piece is in the key of E major, in which Clapton also performs his guitar solos.
Charts
The single reached number 53 in the British charts in 1990 and stayed there for three weeks. In the United States, the single was number four on the mainstream rock charts.
