The Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena (nickname: The Vet ) is a multi-purpose arena in the US city of Jacksonville , Florida .
history
The multi-purpose hall, completed in 2003, was built to replace the Jacksonville Memorial Coliseum from 1960. It is equipped with a maximum of 15,000 seats depending on the event. Elton John gave the first concert in November 2003. It is right next to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and the EverBank Field of the Jacksonville Jaguars from the NFL, only a few hundred meters away .
The Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena has been home to the AFL's Jacksonville Sharks since 2010 . The Jacksonville Dolphins basketball team (since 2003) and the ABA Jacksonville Giants (since 2010) compete in The Vet . For four years from 2003 to 2007, the SPHL's Jacksonville Barracudas ice hockey team was at home in the arena. The ABA All-Star Game 2010/11 was played in the hall on February 26th. In 2012, the Jacksonville Bullies lacrosse team from the PLL played their games at the Veterans Memorial Arena .
The Jacksonville arena hosted numerous events of various kinds. In addition to music concerts such as that of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra , z. For example, the circus company Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus performed several performances. The wrestling league WWE was a guest in 2007 with the WWE One Night Stand as well as rodeos , bull riding and comedy appearances such as The Royal Comedy Tour .
