The Cool Insuring Arena is a multi-purpose arena in the US city ​​of Glens Falls in New York State . It has hosted the home games of the Adirondack Thunder from the ECHL since the 2015/16 season . Since April 1, 2015, the event is building from the Adirondack Civic Center Coalition, Inc. operated.

history

The hall was inaugurated on May 18, 1979. The following day, the Canadian rock band Ironhorse gave a concert in the multi-purpose hall. From the beginning to 1999 it was the venue of the former AHL franchise Adirondack Red Wings , the former farm team of the Detroit Red Wings ( NHL ). From 2009 to 2014, the Adirondack Phantoms (farm team of the Philadelphia Flyers ) were based in the Civic Center. After the Phantoms were relocated to Allentown , Pennsylvania , the Adirondack Flames were the main sporting users in the 2014/15 season. The franchise was the Calgary Flames (NHL) farm team . As a replacement for the migrating Flames, the ECHL ice hockey team from Stockton Thunder will be relocated to Glens Falls and will compete in the Civic Center under the name Adirondack Thunder from the 2015/16 season .

In addition, the arena was used regularly by various ice hockey and basketball teams, which have since been disbanded. The multi-purpose hall is also used for concerts, basketball show games, wrestling and boxing matches .

On July 11, 2017, the insurance company Cool Insuring Agency of Queensbury acquired the naming rights to the hall. The contract has a term of five years.
