The United States Basketball League ( USBL ) was a professional basketball league in the United States . The league was founded in 1985 and ran a championship every year until its dissolution, with the exception of the 1989 season. The last champions were the Kansas Cagerz , who won the final on July 1, 2007.

League rules

The same rules as those of the NBA apply to the course of a game. There are also some provisions such as B .:

  • The United States Basketball League runs from late April to late June so that the summer leagues (such as those of the NBA) do not coincide with the USBL season.
  • Each team must have at least two rookies (newcomers) in their ranks.
  • A draft for young talents is held every year

Teams of the 2007 season

The USBL originally began with ten teams, which were divided into two divisions of five teams each. But with the failure of the New Jersey Meteors , Delaware Stars and Jackson Wildcats (and the brief failure of Long Island PrimeTime ) the league was divided into a single division.
